The Alumni & Friends of the Rye High School, Inc. was founded and incorporated in 1990 as a 501(c)3, not-for-profit organization by co-founders Stephen M. Feeney ('65) and Eric B. Langeloh ('64). The organization's mission is entirely dedicated to the Rye High School, its alumni, and current students, faculty and staff; as well as the Rye community at large. Activities include the support of education, scholarship, social, and community activities. The organization promotes spirit and recognition for Rye High School and its endeavors.
The Alumni & Friends annually assists classes in the planning and execution of their class reunions including a centralized accounting and disbursement capability, provision of up-to-date name and address records and guided tours of the Rye High School and its beautiful campus.
In 2001 the Alumni & Friends partnered with the Rye Lights Committee, and in 2004 the Rye Turf Committee, to bring permanent lighting and a new generation artificial turf field to Rye High's Nugent Stadium. Also the Alumni & Friends has worked on charitable activities involving scholarship funds for the Decade of the 1940s, the Class of 1953, the Class of 1973, the Class of 2000, the Class of 2004, and the Chris Mello Memorial Scholarship Fund (in partnership with the Verizon Foundation and the senior executives and retirees of the Verizon Corporation). Recently, cooperative fund-raising with the Rye High School Parents Organization provided capital for the modernization and renovation of the Rye High School Cafeteria.
In early 2007 The Alumni & Friends completed the third edition of the Rye High School Alumni Directory. To provide name, address, telephone and email revisions please call Steve Feeney at 914-649-6630 or email them to garnet10580@aol.com.
