If a school family does not use a computer, each school office,
through the PO or PTO, will arrange to make paper copies available.
Some schools publish periodic printed newsletters, as well.
Paper flyers and notices previously sent home via "backpack mail" have
been reduced or eliminated. In order to provide a vehicle for community
organizations to share information with school families, the elementary
and middle schools issue a weekly electronic Community Newsletter. News
and information for these special editions are to be sent, via e-mail,
to RyeNews@hotmail.com.
School Course Offering Books and Student/Parent Handbooks
Each school publishes school-specific books for parents and students.
They should be requested from the school office by all new families
and any families who do not have a copy. Additionally, the schools provide
a Kindergarten booklet for parents of all incoming Kindergarteners,
the middle school provides a student planner that includes school-specific
information, and the high school publishes a profile that is sent to
all colleges to which Rye High School students apply.
Student Directories and School Calendar
Each school PO or PTO prints and makes available a directory of students
and school families, and pays for the District-Wide Rye City School
District Calendar, annually.
District-Wide Communications & Publications
Reverse 911
The District has established a "reverse 911" system to be able to immediately
notify parents and guardians of any emergency school closings or issues.
Families need to keep their emergency contact numbers current, through
each school office where a child is enrolled.
Publications
The Board of Education provides a number of publications for families
and the community:
Focus on Excellence newsletter - periodic newsletters
Rye Public Schools Report Card - annual report on school progress,
highlights, and assessment information
Elementary School Curriculum Guides
Special Topic Newsletters
Senior Citizen Newsletter
Rye City School District Code of Conduct
Special Education Services book
Rye Middle School/Rye High School Parent's Guide to Academic Support

studio at Rye High School. During the school year, Rye High School and
Rye Middle School announcements are cablecast daily. Board of Education
meetings are cablecast daily, beginning the day after a Board meeting,
and special school programs and presentations are cablecast daily throughout
