Osborn Elementary School was established in 1957 as one of three elementary schools in the beautiful Sound Shore community of Rye, New York.  Rye is a small suburban community on the Long Island Sound approximately 20 miles north of New York City.  We pride ourselves on being a neighborhood school which serves Kindergarten through fifth grades.  We are a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence nationally recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Our campus sits on 3 acres of land which is surrounded by playgrounds and playing fields.  Our current enrollment is approximately 600 students and a faculty of 70 full time and part time members. Our average class size is 19 students. Our building includes an auditorium, gymnasium, multipurpose room, computer lab, library in addition to 40 classrooms.

Our school population is diverse.  There is a feeling of enthusiasm, camaraderie, energy and a sense of belonging as you enter Osborn School.  Children feel secure and confident within this child-centered environment.  Quality education at Osborn School has been achieved by a dedicated and caring staff.  Innovative programs are developed in response to students’ academic, social and cultural differences.  Curricular standards have been established which meet or exceed those set by New York State.

The Osborn School faculty and staff are committed to preparing our students for academic success while nurturing their social development and continuing to support the values of the school community.

The family/school relationship is a key factor in making Osborn School an outstanding educational institution.  Our supportive relationship with our Parent Teacher Organization allows us to work together to provide our children with a unique, creative and motivating programs that take them beyond the text book.
